The Age of Adaline

The Age of Adaline is another new movie which its messages are beautiful enough to change people's lives. This movie is about a woman who stopped aging because being strucked by lightning and had to run away from law enforcement and people who might separate her from her safe and peaceful life. The movie itself presents the meaning of life; why it's valuable to age and why it's essential to die, and without that, life loses its meaning. Apart from the poetic and beautifully unusual messages and storyline, I want to focus more on the main character.

Adaline Bowman is just another fictional character, yet she can be the most perfect role model for everybody, especially women, all over the world. She had lived for 107 years and the story clearly stated that she's a very well-educated woman. She kept learning and pushing her boundaries; she learned how to read braille, she learned many languages, she knew how to present herself well in the public, she paid attention to little details and used it wisely, she was simply wise and thoughtful. This shows that education will lead you everywhere you want to go, that it will separate you from any other not-so-well-educated people.

Now if you think about it, you might refute it and say that you don't live forever so it's impossible that you learn so many things in a short period of time. But then again, I'm only saying that you should be like her. I'm not saying that you should be her. Education is the best investment that you can do. Adaline proved that education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself.

Adaline lived for so many years and lived several lives. And through that long journey, she had so many chances to waste her money - buying clothes, huge houses, fine-dining dinner, luxurious items, and the list can go on and on. But she didn't. She's so thoughtful that she invested her money on her education, things that will be used by so many people, and experience. She didn't swear, not even once. She thought of the words that are coming out of her mouth; what she said, how she said it, who said it to.

Apart from being well-educated, Adaline Bowman is also a simple woman. She's not fancy nor glamorous, she's just her. Although she's not trendy, she dressed up professionally according to what people usually wear at that time. This proves that she's aware of what's going on around her. She doesn't need bright nail polish, her nails are cut nicely, she doesn't wear up to date outfits, she's not addicted to her gadgets. She only wore an amazing gown, once, and it was also because of she's attending a party. And that's normal to show off a little bit when you're attending a party.

Not to mention that she's also a very independent woman. All this time, she had been alone, yet she could take care of herself really well and still paid attention to her daughter, dog, and friend. She ate right, worked out (according to the narrator), and went on balanced diet. No wonder she had such a wonderful body.

Eventhough the only mistake Adaline Bowman did was not being open up to people who care about her, she's still a very amazing person. She's very well-organized, well-educated, and simple. Adaline Bowman is a fictional character, but she can be someone who women can look up to.
